Walking the Great Glen Way in Scotland

Great Glen Way map
Day 1: April 29th/30th
Fly to London, meet Grant and continue on to Inverness. Catch the last bus to Fort William.

Day 2: Sunday May 1st

Walk into Fort William to locate the start of the Great Glen Way and begin heading north, mostly along the Caledonian Canal. Walk to Gairlochy, then detour to Spean Bridge and catch a bus back to Fort William.

Day 3: Monday May 2nd

Walk then sprint to Fort William to make a bus to Spean Bridge. Walk back to Gairlochy and resume the Great Glen Way, hiking the length of Loch Lochy to Laggan.

Day 4: Tuesday May 3rd

Walk along Loch Oich to Fort Augustus and Loch Ness for lunch. Then we continue on to Invermoriston to stay at the Georgetown B&B. Our longest day on the Great Glen Way, 18.5 miles.

Day 5: Wednesday May 4th

A fourteen mile day brings us to Drumnadrochit where we visit Castle Urquhart on the shores of Loch Ness.

Day 6: Thursday May 5th

Another long day (18 miles), but also our last. A local farmer invites us in for tea at lunch and we reach Inverness in the early evening.
