I had to force myself to wake up after 10 hours of sleep, it seemed yesterday's long day had tired me out.
Another lazy morning then we took a taxi to the Monterrey Hot Springs. The brown water wasn't hot, just warm, but it was still pleasant to swim around for a while. When the afternoon clouds rolled in and the wind picked up we started back.
This time we walked the 6k back to Huaraz along the main road. We saw a cow tethered up along side the road, but was standing directly in the road. We also saw a small chicken nearly get hit by a car. Amazingly we didn't see any road kill.
Back in Huaraz we tried the local ice cream. I was pretty impressed with the chocolate chip, the chocolate had more of a European flavor. We also ran into Irma one last time.
We had one last excellent dinner at the Bistro de Los Andes. Then we tried to view the Southern Cross, but the afternoon clouds still obscured the stars.
Tomorrow morning we head to the Cruz del Sur bus station to begin over 24 hours of travel by bus, taxi and plane back home.
