Day:13
Date:06/16/2004

The car alarms, barking dogs, roosters and PA system announced that we were definitely back in Huaraz. We even heard the triangle dinner bell again.

Another breakfast on the roof of the Olaza Guest House, this time with the music of Van Morrison.

No hurry to our day, we sent the whole time in Huaraz, shopping, eating and relaxing. I found a flyer in the California Cafe for a place showing movies, so we attended a pre-dinner feature of "Freda" - on the life of Mexican artist and wife of Diego Rivera, Freda Kahlo. The funky little place felt like it could have been lifted out of Bloomington and the Ryder film series.

We then had our most expensive meal yet, at the local Thai restaurant. It was very good, but also inline with regular US prices. They didn't seem to have very many customers, but we did spend some time chatting with Tim Brown, a Boulder, CO based guide in Huaraz for the summer. I got his card and might look up his company for some ice climbing in Breckenridge this winter.
